This is the root directory of the official GIMP ftp site.

These subdirectories contain various versions of the source code of
the GIMP.  Binaries contributed by third parties are also available
for various platforms.  Please visit http://www.gimp.org/ for details.

The subdirectories and their contents:

  v2.2      - The current stable subdirectory.  Here you'll find the most
              recent stable version of the GIMP source packages.
  v2.1      - Releases from the last development cycle.
  v2.0      - The former stable version, now replaced by GIMP 2.2.
  v1.2      - Even older version, now considered obsolete.
  extras    - Additional data files for The GIMP: patterns, brushes, ...
  plug-ins  - Additional plug-ins for The GIMP.
  fonts     - Contains several cool X11 fonts that are good for using
              with the GIMP.  Several plug-ins use these fonts by
              default, so do yourself a favor and install them.
  libs      - Contains libraries that are needed for loading and saving
              some file formats. These libraries might already be installed
              on your system.
  contrib   - Various and sundry contributed items.  Feel free to explore.
  docs      - Various docs not readily available elsewhere.  Currently
              very limited.
  manual    - The GIMP manual.
  net-fu    - A WWW based method for remote GIMP generation of logos, etc.
